Congress has passed legislation that could shield TV viewers from those jolting jumps in volume when programs go to commercial. ADVERTISEMENT

Under the legislation, the Federal Communications Commission will require adoption of industry standards aimed at ensuring that commercials will not be noticeably louder than regular programs.

I, for one, am so thankful our Congressional overlords have fixed unemployment, reduced the deficit, reduced my taxes, stopped all wars and ended terrorism that they had time to pass such an important piece of legislation!
